2018 Suzuki Swish highlights a lot of changes and will be uncovered at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show
The Suzuki Access’s lesser-known kin, the Swish, was discountinued in India early this year because of its declining popularity and to build the new Access’s generation. Not at all like the Suzuki Access, the Swish neglected to accumulate the enthusiasm of purchasers because of its plastic body and low efficiency.
However, Suzuki recently released a picture of the new 2018 Suzuki Swish, and it has been reported that the scooter will make its return during the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show scheduled later this month. From the picture, it is evident that the Swish tries to be bold and different this time. It gets a new bodywork with a sleek LED headlamp now mounted on the apron. However we suspect that LED headlamp will be ditched for the Indian market to keep costs under check. Remarkably, the pillion seat on the new scooter is higher when compared to the rider’s, a feature you usually find only on bikes and it gets split grabrails.
While the Access has proved to be highly profitable for the Japanese automaker, the Swish displayed poor sales figures repeatedly. So there lies a good reason to believe that the new Swish will get the 125cc, single-cylinder engine that the Access 125 currently flaunts. This engine churns out 8.7PS and 10.2Nm of torque.
The scooter will make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show which will be held between October 25 and November 5, 2017. We hope to see the Swish return to our shores during the 2018 Auto Expo. The two-wheeler space in India is highly competitive and the Suzuki Swish, when launched, will be pitted against the Honda Activa, which is among the most popular 125cc scooters on sale in India and also the upcoming 125cc scooter from Hero which will be launched soon.
