Ford Ranger Black Edition will be a limited run model; 2,500 units to be produced in double-cab configuration
Ford is gearing up to unveil the Ranger Black Edition pickup truck at upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The special edition pickup truck will be produced in a limited number of 2,500 units. The special edition model is based on Limited series and it shelves all the chrome parts from the body and dons an all-black appearance.
Bringing the special edition of the pickup truck can be a trick to boost the sales of the car in a time when the enthusiasts have been talking about the next generation model and the American auto major is not so keen to introduce the new generation Ranger anytime soon. The automaker has sold more than 23,000 units of the pickup truck in between January and August period of 2017.
Ford Ranger is the bestselling pickup truck in European market and with the arrival of the special edition model, it will surely see a sales surge. Now, speaking about the design of the Ford Ranger Black Edition, it gets an all-black appearance. The black finished front grille, black alloy wheels, bed bars – everywhere the vehicle bears Absolute Black paint scheme, which certainly enhances its visual appeal.
The Ford Ranger Black Edition will be available in double cab configuration only and it gets a range of features inside cabin. There is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 3 multimedia system. Apart from that, there are dual-zone electronic climate control, power folding heated wing mirrors, premium quality leather seats. The safety features for this vehicle include front parking sensors, rear view camera.
On the powertrain front, Ford Ranger Black Edition gets no change. It will be available with two diesel engine options. These are a 2.2-litre four-cylinder fuel burner and a 3.2-litre five-cylinder TDCI engine as well. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed automatic unit as well. Pricing of the special edition model is yet to be announced.
