2017 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift will receive subtle cosmetic updates and interior changes; India launch likely by November
The current generation Honda City was launched at the beginning of 2014 in India and it became the fastest selling mid-size sedan to reach one lakh sales milestone in the next 15 months. Boosted by the arrival of the i-DTEC diesel engine, the City went on to set records before Maruti Suzuki rolled up its sleeves and entered the Ciaz. Both the C-segment models exchange blows with little to choose between them in terms of sales numbers and that beckoned respective facelifts to master the competition. The Japanese brand updated the City with all-black interiors back in February 2016 before a thorough facelift greeted customers this February with several cosmetic and equipment upgrades that indeed made the City more expensive than ever. Deep in the segment, Hyundai is introducing the new generation Verna on August 22. It debuted in China last September with substantial exterior changes to close down the gap to City and Ciaz and had already been revealed in India.
As Volkswagen entered the facelifted Vento just over a year ago, no sooner response is expected from the German company while the new Skoda Rapid launched recently features several exterior and interior revisions as well. We expected Maruti to introduce a facelift as soon as this year but it did not turn out to be the case.
Instead, Maruti strategically shifted the sales of Ciaz from regular showrooms to Nexa premium outlets starting from April and brought a sense of more upmarket ambience to the vehicle. However, the Ciaz facelift, upon its arrival, will likely have substantial changes as it enters a refreshed battle with the City. It could get a similar face as the upcoming S-Cross as imagined in the digital rendering. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift:
